SIGMA Photowalk Bastei

The SIGMA Photowalk takes you to the Bastei for sunrise in June.

At the beginning of summer, a few days before the shortest night of the year, we set off for a very special photo motif in Saxon Switzerland: the Bastei. We will meet in good time to be able to enjoy the break of this summer day to the fullest. From the Ferdinand View, we can look across the Wehlgrund in magnificent grazing light. At the same time, the Bastei Bridge is bathed in golden light. In addition, we can visit the New View towards the Elbe Valley as well as the other perspectives along the bridge and beyond. Since an increased number of photographers is to be expected, the number of participants is limited to 6 people.

Date: 06/14/2026 from 05:30-07:00 AM

Price: €39.00 (incl. SIGMA lens rental)

SIGMA Photowalk Gohrisch

The SIGMA photowalk in July heads to the Gohrisch for sunset.

"Gohrisch is always a good idea!". A jack-of-all-trades for every landscape photographer. Whether for sunrise or sunset. Winter or summer. In any weather. The Gohrisch offers a multitude of views, motifs, and composition possibilities. Its convenient accessibility is always a great advantage. In less than half an hour – sporty people have done it in 10 minutes – we reach the pavilion after a steep climb with many steps. On the rugged plateau, we head to the west side of the Gohrisch and can watch the sun go down next to the Königstein Fortress. Recognizing lines and foreground elements plays a major role in wide-angle shots. But details can also be wonderfully highlighted from up here with a telephoto lens. Let's be surprised by the light!

Date: July 25, 2026, from 6:30 PM to 10:00 PM

Price: € 49.00 (incl. SIGMA lens rental & bus transfer to/from Bad Schandau)

SIGMA Photowalk Domerker

The SIGMA photowalk will lead to the Domerker at sunset in August.

The Domerker is a fascinating rocky viewpoint in the middle of the Affensteine. After a demanding ascent via the Sandloch, we will finally climb up to the viewpoint. Between rugged rocks, you can look into the Domkessel and along the Lorenzwände to the Schrammsteine and the striking Falkenstein. The sun will set right at the Falkenstein on this evening, hopefully giving us beautiful colors in the sky. The striking rocks in the foreground invite you to capture impressive perspectives with a wide-angle lens. But you can also photograph very beautiful details in the rocky landscape with a telephoto lens.

Date: Aug 22, 2026 from 5:00 PM - 10:45 PM

Price: € 49.00 (incl. SIGMA lens rental & bus transfer from/to Bad Schandau)

SIGMA Photowalk Kleiner Winterberg

The SIGMA Photowalk goes to the Kleiner Winterberg for sunrise in September.

The views at the Kleiner Winterberg are the epitome of romance, of picturesque pine trees and rock formations that seem arranged by an artist's hand. The countless steps leading us up on this autumn morning are the necessary effort to listen to the distant rutting calls of the deer in the valley and witness the awakening day. With a little luck, fog will appear in the valley. But on all my visits to this fantastic place, there has never been a wasted day. Whether details on the reefs, wide panoramas, or intimate scenes along the trail, there are countless opportunities to experiment photographically.

NOTE: This tour is only manageable with a good level of fitness.

Date: September 20, 2026, from 04:50-09:00 AM

Price: € 39.00 (incl. SIGMA lens rental)

SIGMA Photowalk Pravčická brána

The SIGMA Photowalk goes to the Pravčická brána for sunrise in October.

From the hiking parking lot at the exit of Hřensko, we head to the largest natural sandstone arch in Europe – the Pravčická brána (Prebischtor). Walking at a leisurely pace, we reach the summit at the beginning of the blue hour. Now we have enough time to adjust all settings and enjoy the break of dawn. On this morning, the sun rises directly behind the Pravčická brána and will hopefully conjure up memorable autumn light for us! Since the severe forest fires in the summer of 2022, the nature around the Pravčická brána is undergoing a transformation that can rarely be admired from so close. Young birch trees shoot up between the charred trunks, their delicate autumn foliage forms a wonderful contrast to the surroundings, and a wide variety of mushrooms grow on the old wood. The way back will offer us many opportunities to capture these details.

NOTE: This tour is only manageable with a good level of fitness.

Date: Oct 25, 2026 from 05:00-09:30 AM

SIGMA Photowalk Breite Kluft

The SIGMA Photowalk goes to the Breite Kluft near Schmilka for sunrise in December.

We will experience the sunrise during this photowalk at the fantastic viewpoint of the Breite Kluft and on the upper Terrassenweg. The Breite Kluft is known for its sweeping panorama over the Schmilkaer Kessel, onto the Rauschenstein and into the Hintere Sächsische Schweiz. At this time of year, the sun rises directly behind us, thus casting a special light on the fresh green. This offers the opportunity to capture landscape photography without direct backlight, thereby providing more time to capture interesting perspectives and photograph the grazing light over the Elbe valley. The ascent requires good physical condition and surefootedness.

Date: 12/12/2026 from 06:00-10:30 am

SIGMA Photowalk Leader Philipp Zieger

Since 2015, Philipp Zieger has been roaming the Saxon Switzerland with his camera. Whether on simple hikes or special photo tours, he has come to love the diversity and charm of this landscape. With his pictures, he tries to capture the magic of the various places and seasons and to convey to people the joy of being outdoors, the mindful treatment of nature and of oneself. With his calendars, his photo book about the Saxon Switzerland, as well as various publications (including several contributions in Stephan Wiesner's Zielfoto magazine) and years of cooperation with the tourism association, his pictures are now known to many people. The personal exchange about photography and the most diverse approaches in landscape and nature photography is very important to him.
