It begins like a fairy tale: Assistant Seymour saves his boss’s small flower shop from closing by placing a strange plant in the storefront window. And the plant’s eerie aura doesn’t just make the business flourish: In addition to the media, Seymour’s secret love, the attractive saleswoman Audrey, suddenly takes notice of him. But of course, happiness comes at a price, because the plant demands human blood. Ultimately, Audrey and Seymour’s dream of living in a little house with a garden does indeed end “in the countryside,” but in a way quite different from what they had imagined.
