Staged Reading of "Babette's Feast" with Tom Hantschel
Tanja Blixen shares with us the short story of Babette, who is taken in—and thus saved—by the provost’s two daughters, Martine and Philippa, in Norway in 1871. The story explores the concept of enjoyment in all its facets: the joy of being together, of caring for one another, of humanity, of faith—and of enjoyment itself. The story is as simple as it is profound, and it is precisely this simplicity that makes it so great.
Accompanied by music by Mozart, Grieg, and Promnitz, performed by musicians from the Dresden Philharmonic
