The Malerweg for Insiders
In cooperation with the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden and the National Park and Forest Administration, anniversary tours will take place on the Malerweg from March through October 2026, offering visitors the chance to experience the famous hiking trail from a new perspective. Once a month, on Sundays, participants will hike a selected stage together with an expert guide.  Each tour will be led by a representative of the National Park and Forestry Administration. 

The hike on Stage 7 will be led by:

  • Madlen Rogge, Project Manager for the Malerweg/Hiking, Marketing
  • Peter Mildner, District Trail Supervisor, responsible for the left-bank section of Saxon Switzerland
  • Martin Wyrsch, Nature Conservation Officer

A guided tour of the special exhibition "Along the Elbe – Ancient Saxony in Paintings from the Wolfgang Donath Collection" at Königstein Fortress with Mr. Pawluschow.

Meeting point / Start + Finish:
Gohrisch, Tourist Information Office
Start: 9:30 a.m.
End: approx. 5:00 p.m. in Thürmsdorf


Hiking route: Gohrisch Spa – Jagdsteig – Königsweg – Alter Schulweg – Pfaffendorf – Pfaffenstein – Klammweg – Quirl – Pfaffendorf Sports Field – Königstein – Latzweg – Königstein Fortress  - Alte Festungsstraße – Kanonenweg – Thürmsdorf (bus stop at Gasthof Thürmsdorf)

  • Total length: approx. 16 km
  • Elevation gain: approx.  437 m uphill / 544 m downhill
  • Note: This stage is not walked in its entirety; it ends in Thürmsdorf due to public transportation connections.
  • Good physical condition, general fitness, sure-footedness, and a head for heights are required.
  • Please bring plenty of drinks and snacks for yourself. No stops for refreshments are planned.
