Experience the historic Burghoffest!
The first weekend of the summer vacations in Saxony is traditionally dedicated to a major historical spectacle that dates back to the Thirty Years' War. The year was 1632 and enemy imperial Croatian troops besieged Stolpen. The population retreated to the castle and successfully defended it against the invaders, who were eventually forced to withdraw. This fact is still a reason to celebrate the heroic victory to this day. Despite all the joy, camp life within the castle walls was not without its problems. Minor skirmishes, thefts and other misdeeds, which were ruthlessly punished, were the order of the day. The rough customs of the time are celebrated with a wink and a lot of fun for the history-loving audience.
