“Forest, Wildlife, Wolf” – The Return of the Wolves to the Saxon Switzerland National Park
The Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland National Park Administrations invite you to an event as part of the German-Czech REDEMA* project
The wolf is returning to the national park!
After a long absence and a return in recent years, there are now several wolf packs roaming Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland. As the largest native land predator, the wolf influences game populations and thus shapes the development of forests and wildlife in the region.
The methods used to track the hunter’s secretive lifestyle will be explained in the field by experts from the Senckenberg Society for Nature Research from Görlitz will explain in the field. The excursion will also focus on the interactions between wolves and the “Wild Animal of the Year”—the red deer—and, consequently, on forest development.
Our experts will report on the results to date of the REDEMA project, highlight various research priorities in the field, and provide an outlook on future wildlife management measures.
