Dresden Wind Philharmonic Performs in Sebnitz

  • Classical concert
With its “Casanova” program, the Dresden Wind Philharmonic invites you to an evening full of musical contrasts.
The centerpiece of the program is de Meijs’s “Casanova” for cello (soloist: Alexander Hülshoff) and symphonic wind orchestra: a rich, resonant portrait of the legendary Casanova, whose life—marked by charm, adventure, imprisonment, and escape—is transformed into a musical spectacle. The program opens with Williams’ “Symphonic Dance No. 3 – Fiesta,” a work brimming with rhythmic energy. This is followed by the “Poco adagio” from Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, Op. 78, creating a moment of lyrical tranquility and great sonic depth. Cesarin’s “Sinfonietta No. 3, Op. 56 – Zwölfmalgreien Sketches” opens up a colorful panorama spanning city life, mountain shadows, and southern warmth. The contemporary highlight of the program is “A Hokusai Triptych” by Benjamin Barker, first-prize winner of the Winds Composition Contest Saxony 2025.
