Culinary City Tour of Pirna
We invite you to explore the diverse aromas and flavors of this historic city. Immerse yourself in the world of architecture and culinary delights—let Pirna’s delicacies enchant you!
Our culinary discovery tour begins at the Pirna Tourist Service, right next to Hofladen15, and winds through the winding alleys of the Old Town, where history and modernity blend in a fascinating way.
Over a glass of Pirna beer in the picturesque courtyard of artist Claudia Hinze, you’ll learn interesting facts about the city’s former brewing rights and the beautiful courtyard architecture.
The tour continues to what is likely Saxony’s oldest coffee roastery. Tino Wunderlich explains at the glass-walled Schmole coffee roastery that coffee doesn’t necessarily have to be drunk hot.
Not far from there is the community center at Dohnaische Straße 74. Next to what is now the Pirna City Library, the original Pirn’sche Bitter was once produced. Why should you try this bitter liqueur? Give it a try!
The most famous treat is probably the Eierschecke at Ilse’s Kaffestube. In the beautiful Peter-Ullrich-Haus, Michaela Goebel will explain why we Pirna locals—and you—can’t resist this sweet temptation. This building has also been home to the Tom-Pauls Theater since 2010.
Next up is a visit to the 25th Saxon Wine Queen—Katja Riedel. Over a glass of Schieler at the Romantik Hotel Deutsches Haus, the Pirna-based winemaker showcases modern interpretations of traditional grape varieties while highlighting Pirna’s significance as the starting point of the Saxon Wine Route.
