Conservatory Tour: "Resting on Roses"

The rose was already considered a luxury item by the Greeks and Romans. The idiom “bedded on roses” likely stems from their custom of dining while reclining, literally while bedded on roses.

Flowers also play a role in the recently restored Winter Garden, the former bathhouse. The floral tour concludes with a glass of sparkling wine in the garden pavilion or in front of the Winter Garden.
