Bad Schandau Organ and Music Summer: From Baroque to Tango – Keyboard Acrobatics for Two Accordions
Elena Kratschkowski, born in Ukraine (Zaporizhzhia), studied music in Russia and won several (inter)national competitions during that time. As a conductor, she has performed contemporary and classical works in her own arrangements with the Folk Instruments Orchestra of the Petrozavodsk Conservatory, for example at the opening of the International Competition held there in 2000. Since 1997, she has been performing regularly in concerts with the Kratschkowski Accordion Duo and participating in festivals and projects, including at the Semperoper and at klezmer festivals in Israel. She is currently involved in several projects focusing on, among other things, experimental improvisation, jazz, and classical music; since 2008, she has also been actively teaching, conducting ensembles, and collaborating with the Dresden-based composer Rainer Lischka. She performs regularly in the “Music Between Worlds” series.
Ruslan Kratschkowski, born in Ukraine (Kherson), studied music in Russia and won several (inter)national competitions during that time. He subsequently worked as a lecturer at the “Alexander Glazunov” Conservatory in Petrozavodsk. Since 1997, he has been performing regularly in concerts with the Kratschkowski Accordion Duo and participating in festivals and projects, including at the Semperoper and the Shostakovich Days, which were recorded for the MDR media library. He is currently involved in several projects focusing on contemporary music and improvisation, jazz, and classical music, and collaborates with the Dresden-based composer Rainer Litschka. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Dresden contemporary music ensemble “El perro andaluz,” and since October 2023, he has been a lecturer at the Dresden University of Music and at the “Carl Maria von Weber” State Music High School in Dresden.
