"Felted – Knitted – Spun. Sheep’s Wool from the Region for the Region”—under this motto, on the last Sunday in April from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the garden of the National Park Center in Bad Schandau will be the venue for the traditional Wool Festival.
The family festival for visitors of all ages offers, among other things, live music, a puppet show, and an exhibition of rare native sheep breeds. All fans of wool, sheep, and arts and crafts will find something to enjoy here.
A highlight every year is the guided sheep shearing demonstration. The shearer demonstrates the first step in obtaining wool, that popular natural product. The subsequent steps in processing the wool, right up to the use of spinning equipment, are vividly presented.
Children and adults can create their own products in felting and other workshops.
At the popular fashion show “Up Close and Personal with Local Wool,” both everyday and exclusive textiles are showcased.
