Winter Hiking Tour Saxon Switzerland

• Depending on the weather conditions, one should also prepare for wintry conditions in the Saxon Switzerland.
• The paths are usually not cleared of snow and ice.
• Hiking is at your own risk and responsibility.
• We recommend sturdy ankle-high hiking boots and a small backpack for food and rain protection for the tours.
• A good basic level of fitness, as well as surefootedness and a head for heights, are required for this hiking trip.
• The complete overview of the booked accommodations is noted on the travel confirmation/invoice and will be sent by post to the guest along with the documents after the trip is booked by the tour operator.
• Communication during the trip is possible in the following languages: German and English.
• The trip is not suitable for guests with limited mobility.

• Day 1: Individual arrival in Bad Schandau
  Use the afternoon for a leisurely stroll through the picturesque spa town.
• Day 2: Great Schrammstein Circuit: Bad Schandau - Schrammsteine - Schmilka   (approx. 11 km, approx. 3.5 h)
  You will take the historic passenger elevator (extra cost) up to Ostrau and enjoy the magnificent view of the Elbe Valley. The journey continues into the mystical forests of Saxon Switzerland. You will reach the winter village Schmilka and use the S-Bahn to return to Bad Schandau.
• Day 3: Lichtenhain Circuit: Bad Schandau - Lichtenhainer Waterfall - Bad Schandau  (approx. 16 km, approx. 5 h)
  Your day begins with a ride on the Kirnitzschtalbahn (extra cost) or by bus to the Licthentainer Waterfall. With a bit of luck, you can marvel at a unique ice sculpture here if there's enough frost. Continue your hike over the famous rock arch Kuhstall and through the wintry Kirnitzsch Valley back to the Lichtenhainer Waterfall. From here, you take the bus back to Bad Schandau.
• Day 4: Bad Schandau - Gohrisch - Königstein  (approx. 8 to 13 km, approx. 5 h)
  Today, your hike will take you over Krippen into the "Realm of Stones," as the region around Gohrisch is also known. If you wish, take a leisurely winter stroll on the Gohrisch Follow Path and enjoy stunning views.
• Day 5: Cunnersdorf Circuit to Katzstein  (approx. 9 km, approx. 3 h)
  Start your hike in Cunnersdorf to Spitzstein and from there to Schneebergblick. Enjoy the beautiful views of the Schrammsteine and Hoher Schneeberg here before reaching today's circular hiking tour destination, Katzstein. You will spend another night in the health resort Gohrisch.
• Day 6: Gohrisch - Königstein Fortress - Wehlen  (approx. 13 km, approx. 4 h)
  Today's winter hiking tour first takes you to Königstein. Pay a visit to the "impregnable" fortress there. Afterwards, continue over Thürmsdorf and the Kleine Bärenstein towards Wehlen. Take the train to the spa town Rathen.
• Day 7: Bastei Circular Hike  (approx. 9 km, approx. 3 h)
  Today is all about the famous Bastei. The day begins with the ascent to the Bastei Rock. Via the Stone Table, you will reach Rathewalde. The path leads you back to the Bastei and you descend to the spa town Rathen.
