Tour description

  • Day 1: Individual arrival in Dresden
We recommend you take a tour around Dresden and discover the beautiful "Florence on the Elbe." Overnight stay in Dresden
  • Day 2: Stadt Wehlen - Hohnstein (approx. 11 km, approx. 4 h)
In the morning, take the S-Bahn and bus to the starting point of the first hiking tour on the Painter’s Way, to Stadt Wehlen (duration: approx. 40 minutes). You will hike to the most famous viewpoint of Saxon Switzerland - the Bastei Bridge. Then descend into the Amselgrund and make your way to the second highlight of the day - the Hockstein. Through the Wolfsschlucht, you reach the Polenztal, below the town of Hohnstein with its castle.
  • Day 3: Hohnstein - Altendorf/Kirnitzschtal/Kirnitzschtal (approx. 15 km, approx. 6 h)
Through the Schindergraben, you reach the Gautsch Grotto. The "Brandaussicht" in the first third is today's highlight. Afterward, descend 800 steps into the Tiefen Grund and continue via Waitzdorf to Altendorf or into the Kirnitzschtal. Depending on availability, you will overnight in Altendorf, the Kirnitzschtal, or in Bad Schandau.
  • Day 4: Altendorf/Kirnitzschtal/Bad Schandau – Schrammsteine – NeumannmĂĽhle (approx. 18.5 km, approx. 6.5 h)
You will hike directly uphill to the Schrammstein viewpoint and along the ridge trail through the Schrammstein massif. Passing the Great and Small Dom, you reach the Affensteinweg. This leads you to the Lichtenhain Waterfall. Through the "Kuhstall," you reach today's stage destination, the technical monument NeumannmĂĽhle. By bus, return to the Kirnitzschtal or Bad Schandau.
  • Day 5: NeumannmĂĽhle – GroĂźer Winterberg – Schmilka/Krippen (approx. 13.5 km, approx. 5.5 hrs)
In the morning, take the bus to the starting point of today's stage – to Neumannmühle. You will hike through the Hintere Sächsische Schweiz to the "Zeughaus." Shortly thereafter, the breathtaking Goldsteinaussicht and the ascent to the Großer Winterberg await you. On the way to Schmilka, plan a detour to the Kipphornaussicht. In Schmilka, use the Elbe ferry and take the S-Bahn to your overnight accommodation in Krippen. Alternatively, continue another 8 km on the Painter's Way.
  • Day 6: Schmilka/Krippen – Kurort Gohrisch (approx. 17 km, approx. 6.5 hrs)

  • Day 7: Kurort Gohrisch – Königstein (approx. 9 km, approx. 4 hrs)
This short stage takes you over the Pfaffenstein with the Barbarine rock needle, past the Diebskeller cave to your hotel at the foot of the Königstein Fortress.
