• For organisational reasons, this walking holiday can only be booked up to 10 days before the arrival date.
• For the walks, we recommend sturdy, ankle-high walking boots and a small rucksack for provisions and waterproof clothing.
• A good basic level of fitness, sure-footedness and a head for heights are required for this walking holiday.
• The complete list of booked accommodation is provided on the booking confirmation/invoice and will only be sent to the guest with the relevant documents by the tour operator after the trip has been booked.
• Communication during the trip is available in the following language: German
• This trip is not suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
• German nationals must carry valid identity documents. All other travellers should observe the applicable passport and visa requirements. Your embassy will be pleased to provide further information.

• Day 1: Independent arrival in Pirna
  Affordable parking is available in the multi-storey car park, or you may travel by train.
• Day 2:Pirna - Lohmen  (approx. 8 km)
  The Painters’ Way begins at the entrance to the Liebethaler Grund valley. Following the small Wesenitz stream, this stage leads through the romantic valley to the monumental Richard Wagner Memorial. Hidden behind trees and shrubs, the long-abandoned quarries bear witness to the longstanding tradition of using sandstone as a building material and for millstones. 
• Day 3: Lohmen - Hohnstein  (approx. 15 km)
  After leaving Lohmen, you reach the Uttewalder Grund valley.  Covered in ferns and mosses, this valley frequently featured in paintings by the Romantics. The Painters’ Way leads through the Uttewalde Rock Gate and the Wehlener Grund valley to the small town of Wehlen on the Elbe. From Stadt Wehlen, the Painters’ Way follows the Schwarzbergweg, passing the “Stone Table” before reaching what is probably Saxon Switzerland’s best-known landmark, the Bastei viewpoint. From the Bastei viewpoint and Bastei Bridge, you can look 190 metres down into the Elbe Valley. After descending from the Bastei, you reach the small spa resort of Rathen and continue through the Amselgrund valley to Rathewalde. From the Hockstein viewpoint, you can already see your destination for the day, the castle town of Hohnstein. The route descends through the narrow Wolfsschlucht gorge into the Polenztal valley before climbing again to Hohnstein.
• Day 4: Hohnstein - Bad Schandau  (approx. 18 km)
  From Hohnstein, you follow a woodland trail to one of the finest viewpoints in Saxon Switzerland, the Brand viewpoint. You reach Bad Schandau via the Panoramaweg.
• Day 5: Bad Schandau - Kirnitzsch Valley  (approx. 13 km)
  The Painters’ Way passes the Falkenstein rock formation en route to the “Großes Schrammtor” and the impressive Schrammsteine viewpoint. This stage ends at the Lichtenhain Waterfall. Return to Bad Schandau on the Kirnitzschtal tramway.
• Day 6: Independent departure from Bad Schandau
