International BAT NIGHT “Batnight 2026”
The National Park Center in Bad Schandau is once again hosting Bat Night in 2026, an event that traditionally takes place in 38 countries around the world at the end of August.
Night owls of all ages are cordially invited to experience these nocturnal hunters up close at dusk and listen to them with bat detectors.
At various activity booths, the National Park Center team—in cooperation with experts from the State Committee for Bat Conservation at NABU Saxony and the NABU Sebnitz Regional Group to learn more about the lifestyles of various bat species.
In addition to building a bat box, tips on bat-friendly garden design, all kinds of games and crafts, the highlight of Batnight 2026 will be a joint excursion along the Elbe River, where this year visitors can look over the shoulders of researchers as they catch, identify, and measure bats.
At dusk, the bats glide silently across the sky—and we want to experience this together.
