The Pirna Sculpture Summer '26 is themed "IN BETWEEN." In addition to the bastions of the Sonnenstein Fortress, there will be a second exhibition venue for the first time.
This year, the renowned exhibition is themed “in-between” and brings together international, Czech, and German artists of various generations who explore the tensions and possibilities of the in-between in their work. The works—which range from plaster and bronze to steel, as well as installations and interactive elements—reflect the diversity of human experiences and the complexity of interpersonal relationships. This variety of materials and techniques reflects not only the artists’ individual styles but also the diverse cultural backgrounds that converge in a cross-border context. From May 10 through September 27, visitors can experience the exhibition as well as thematically related special events. Visits are possible every Wednesday through Sunday and on holidays starting at 1:00 p.m., or as part of individually bookable bastion tours offered by TouristService Pirna. From May 31 through September 20, selected sculptures will also be on display at the Schöne Höhe Gallery. The Pirna Sculpture Summer will once again be generously supported in 2026 by the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden and the Meissen-Saxon Switzerland-Eastern Ore Mountains Cultural Region.
