Entrance to the Schrammsteine area

The Schrammtor is a striking rock formation on the western edge of the Schrammsteine. It forms a natural passageway between high sandstone walls and is part of a well-developed hiking trail.

The path through the Schrammtor is natural, contains steps and leads directly into the heart of the Schrammsteine. The ground consists of fine sand formed by the weathering of the rocks.

The Schrammtor is located on an important connecting route in the hiking trail network and is part of the fourth stage of the Malerweg trail, for example. It offers no view, but is a striking scenic spot on the way to the Schrammstein viewpoint.

The formation is freely accessible all year round and can be easily integrated into a half-day or day hike.
