Soft tourism

In tune with nature We love our nature and would like to preserve it, together with our visitors. After all, this wonderful landscape is a treasure.

We love our nature and would like to preserve it, together with our visitors. After all, this wonderful landscape is a treasure.

Don’t we all strive for a life in harmony with nature? Some small mindful steps can help reach this goal.

During your holidays in Saxon Switzerland you can find out what kinds of actions make the difference. For example, when you walk to a destination or use public transport. Or when you explore the particularities of the “Kernzone” (core zone) and roam the rocky scenery with a certified National Park guide, or when you enjoy a local meal and feel your hosts’ attachment to their homeland.

Sometimes it is the little things like a refreshing sip of water from a cool well or an apple tree by the wayside that sweeten our lives.

A break for your car

Why not start your holidays reading, playing, chatting or just doing nothing while you travel here?

Your car, too, has earned its break during your holidays, hasn’t it? Saxon Switzerland is very well accessible by train or by long-distance bus. Travelling by train is particularly suitable for families. It provides freedom to move around with no traffic jams. Instead of fixating ahead on the road, you can let your eyes wander across the landscape through the windows and have a relaxed start of the holidays for everyone.

No matter if you travel alone or as a couple or come with kith and kin, if you bring your bicycle or send your luggage in advance: travelling by train or bus means arriving relaxed while doing a favour for the environment.

Mobility at your holiday destination

In Saxon Switzerland eco-friendly mobility is a top priority.

The dreadful search for a parking space, missing change for the pay-and-display machine, planning each tour as a loop route – no need for all this! Using public transport reduces stress and is eco-friendly. And makes the locals happy, too. Of particularly convenience is the “Gästekarte Sächsische Schweiz mobil”, Saxon Switzerland’s mobility pass which is free for tourists staying in the communities of Pirna, Königstein, Sebnitz, Bad Schandau, Rathmannsdorf Gohrisch and Reinhardtsdorf –Schöna. The card allows them to use many means of public transport run by the Upper Elbe Transport Network (Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe, VVO) in the whole area of Saxon Switzerland, all free of charge. Our tip: Download the transport network’s app and get all connections and departure times displayed to plan your trip.
