Viewpoint in the Affensteinen

The Carola Rock is one of the most famous vantage points in the Affensteinen. It owes its name to Saxony's last queen, Carola von Wasa-Holstein-Gottorp.

It is located in the middle of the Saxon Switzerland National Park between the Schrammsteine and the Kirnitzschtal valley. The impressive panoramic view over the rugged rocky landscape is a popular photo motif. At sunset in autumn or in winter with fresh snow, the view towards the Schrammsteine and Falkenstein is particularly impressive.

From the plateau, you can see striking destinations such as the Schrammstein chain, Falkenstein, Lilienstein, Pfaffenstein and Königstein.

The Carola Rock can be reached via a variety of routes over steps and narrow passages.

The view is freely accessible all year round. It is one of the most scenically impressive places in the region and is particularly suitable for hikes with panoramic breaks.
