A viewing rock 115 meters above the Polenztal valley with a view of Hohnstein Castle.
At a height of 291 meters, the Hockstein offers spectacular views of the Polenztal valley 115 meters below. The site lies on a geological boundary: granite is found upstream, sandstone begins downstream.
The remains of a medieval fortification can be found at the summit and an engraved mill can be seen in the rocks. The Devil's Bridge dates back to 1821 and is one of the oldest tourist structures in Saxon Switzerland.
The rocky spur can be reached via various hiking trails, including the ascent through the Wolfsschlucht gorge or easily from the Hockstein parking lot.
