Castle ruins near Goßdorf

The impressive walls of the Goßdorf Robbery Castle have long held an attraction for visitors, who are fascinated by the numerous sagas and legends surrounding these historical remains. Schwarzenberg Castle once stood on a rocky outcrop some 50 metres above the valleys of the Sebnitz and Schwarzbach rivers. The name of the castle was first mentioned as early as the 14th century in the course of an elevation by Emperor Charles VI. It presumably served as a hunting lodge in this area rich in game. The walls that still exist today were built on the remaining ruins in the last century, although remnants of the old foundation wall can still be seen. In 2003, the ruins were restored to preserve their historical significance.
