The amateur theatre "Theatre Libre"
On 5 February 1992, the children's and youth theatre "Bunte Bühne" was founded in Sebnitz. In 2000, the theatre became an association and has been known as "Theatre Libre" Amateurtheater e.V. ever since. It is a member of the regional association and the Federation of German Amateur Theatres, as well as the local youth association Jugendring Sächsische Schweiz/Osterzgebirge e.V.. In the field of culture, it was voted "Association of the Year 2003" by the Sparkasse Elbtal - Westlausitz and the Sächsische Zeitung, out of more than 80 associations. There are 33 players aged between 10 and 52 in three groups. The repertoire includes a wide variety of pieces and thus offers something for every age group. In addition to the plays for all age groups, various projects, guest performances and annual events are offered on the premises. The aim of the association is the dissemination of amateur theatre, with the main focus on children and youth work. There is a wide range of offers, including theatre performances for all upcoming occasions, workshops in performing arts, workshops with kindergartens, schools, youth and children's houses, rentals in the premises, adult theatre and much more.
