Rathewalder Mill

Short facts

The Rathewalder Mill was built in 1794 as a habitable mill with a grinding train.

Thanks to its outstanding hospitality, the mill also became widely known as the "Kuchenschänke" or "Bauernschänke". In later years it was converted into a Volkseigene Betrieb for holiday homes and today it is a beer garden with a cosy inn and overnight accommodation directly on the Malerweg. A special highlight is the mountain church, which nestles high up on the cliff. At the Rathewalder Mühle there is also a stamp station of the long-distance hiking trail "Eisenach-Budapest".
