Pirna-Zuschendorf country palace

Short facts

Botanical Collections Zuschendorf country palace with palace and glass greenhouses in the palace park

The most valuable plant collections from the 19th century form Saxony's green treasure trove in Zuschendorf. In addition to the exhibitions in the park and the greenhouses, there are at least three special flower shows each year in the baroque festival rooms or the medieval vaults of the country castle.
The castle is only open to visitors for the numerous events and exhibitions!
Fascinating is the winter blossoming of the camellias, the first splash of colour in spring when everything outside is grey and icy. This will be from March with a nationwide flower show.

Blooming times:
  • Camellia flowering: from 1 March about 5 weeks
  • Azalea flowering: last 2 weeks of April, 3 weekends and including 1. May
  • Hortensia flowering: last week of July and first week of August, including 3 weekends
  • Bonsai, dwarf fruit trees, ivy: 1 May to mid-October (shifts due to weather conditions are possible)
