Former part of the rafting facilities of the Kirnitzsch

In past times, the Niedere Schleuse was part of the rafting system of the Kirnitzsch. The 32m wide dam has a reservoir length of 750m. In the past, this location was perfect for the purpose of timber rafting, but today the dam serves to protect the Kirnitzsch valley from flooding.
