Großsedlitz Baroque Garden (Heidenau)

Short facts

The Grosssedlitz Baroque Garden - Saxony's Versailles - comprises 18 hectares of Baroque garden art with orangeries and sculptures, created for courtly festivities.

Once the site of courtly festivities under Augustus the Strong, the Grosssedlitz Baroque Garden is now one of the most important Baroque gardens in Germany. The spacious grounds delight visitors with artfully designed "festival halls in the green", romantic water features, over 60 original sandstone sculptures and colorful flowerbeds.

More than 200 citrus trees - including historic and rare varieties - give the garden a Mediterranean flair. The orangeries and the clear terrace system make the garden a masterpiece of late Baroque garden art.
