German Watch Museum Glashütte

Short facts

The exhibition on watchmaking in Glashütte shows over 175 years of craftsmanship, technology and design history.

The collection illustrates the development of timekeeping in Glashütte from 1845 to the present day. Visitors are given an overview of technical innovations and the importance of the town for watchmaking.

More than 500 exhibits are on display, including precision pendulum clocks, marine chronometers and pocket watches. Tools and historical documents make the craft processes comprehensible.

Changing special exhibitions and multimedia presentations complement the permanent exhibition. The building in the center of Glashütte is a historic industrial building and is barrier-free.
