Viewpoint on the former site of a castle above the market square
First mentioned in documents in 1269, the castle in Wehlen, together with its two outer castles, was 85 m long and 16 m wide.
Forfeited since 1547, the foundation walls of a tower and - facing the Wehlgrund - a bastion (the "drum") have been preserved.
Today, this place is above all a beautiful vantage point over the Elbe valley and the fairytale town of Wehlen. Especially in winter, when the town is lightly covered in snow, the view offers a very special atmosphere.
