Evangelical Lutheran Church Reinhardtsd.-Schöna - Farmer Baroque Church

Short facts

Historic village church with colorful Baroque interior and Gothic altar piece in the district of Reinhardtsdorf.

The church is one of the oldest buildings in the village. The first chapel was mentioned in writing as early as 1368. The Romanesque gate to the sacristy is a preserved building element from this early period. In 1523, the building was extended and reconsecrated by the Bishop of Meissen.

The winged altar from 1521 features detailed wood carvings from the late Gothic period. The church building was raised, extended and redesigned in 1676 and 1677. The current exterior shape dates back to this construction work.

The interior creates a uniform baroque impression. Wooden benches over 300 years old, a richly painted wooden ceiling and two galleries with scenes from the Old and New Testaments define the appearance.

The church is still used today for devotions and guided tours.

Guided tours of the church are possible every Tuesday at 5 pm from May to October or by prior arrangement.
