Visible from afar, the late baroque Papsdorf church stands on a small hill north above the village.

In 1786-1787 the present late Baroque church was built by the master builders Kayser from Pirna and Reichert from Königstein, also incorporating suggestions from George Bähr.

The striking massive tower with its bonnet crowning characterises the appearance.
