Short facts

  • Děčín
  • Natural sight, Information…

The Dolský Mill in the Kamnitz Gorge is a romantic mill ruin with a lot of history in the middle of the Bohemian Switzerland National Park.

The mill was first mentioned in 1515 as a facility with three water wheels - one for the saw and two for the grinder. It was rebuilt in 1727, including the bakery.

When the water level was low, it was occasionally used as a malt mill for the Binsdorf castle brewery. A distillery was added in 1814. At the end of the 19th century, the Ferdinand Gorge boat trip ended here, a bar was built and the customs guard was also on site for a few years.

The mill fell into disrepair after 1945. Today, only the remains of the walls remain, which exude a special atmosphere.

The Grundmühle is located in the Kamnitz Valley, surrounded by hiking trails to Vysoká Lípa, Kamenická Stráň and Jetřichovice. The nearby Ferdinand's Gorge can be reached via a blue-marked path on the left bank of the Kamenice.
