Hohnstein Castle

Short facts

Hohnstein Castle on a rocky spur above the romantic Polenz Valley and the small town of Hohnstein

Hohnstein Castle is located directly at the Saxon Switzerland National Park, not far from the Bastei. The castle was first mentioned in a document in 1353 and has experienced an eventful history.

10 function rooms and a castle garden of over 1,000 square metres with an open-air stage offer the best conditions for events. The museum shows the history of the castle and the town, the life of bats and salmon is explained in the natural history exhibition and the observation tower offers a wide view over the sandstone cliffs.
