Tour of the special exhibition "The Answer" with the artist and Robert Sterl Prize winner Luca Pataki
In winter, the special exhibition area of the Robert-Sterl-Haus always "belongs" to young, contemporary art. Since the 1990s, the prize has been awarded annually by the Collective Foundations of the District of Dresden, the sponsor of the Robert Sterl House, in cooperation with the Dresden University of Fine Arts (HfBK) to a master student of the HfBK. The Robert Sterl Prize commemorates the cultural and social commitment of the artist Robert Sterl (1867-1932) and aims to support young artists at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts (now the Dresden University of Fine Arts), where Sterl was a professor for more than 25 years. The award is associated with prize money and an exhibition in the Robert Sterl House, the former home and studio of the artist of the same name.
The current special exhibition "The Answer" shows works by the Robert Sterl Prize winner 2025. Luca Pataki has wrapped the entire exhibition space and all objects in paper for her presentation, creating a hybrid of archive and "landscape" that is determined less by a being than by a becoming. Pataki artistically addresses the instability of our perception and the fragility of the systems we create to maintain it in an imaginative, clever and sometimes witty way.
On Saturday, February 7, 2026, there will be a joint tour of the special exhibition with Luca Pataki. The aim is to discover and reflect on the exhibition together with the artist and the director of the Robert-Sterl-Haus. The prizewinner will also present a publication created especially for the exhibition.
