Highlight concert at Stolpen Castle!
When Thomas Stelzer founded a gospel choir in 1999 and called it "The Gospel Passengers", nobody could have imagined what a successful musical venture it would become: Since then, well over 500 concerts, guest appearances on television, collaborations with "special guests" such as Edwin Hawkins, Chris Barber, Inga Rumpf, Gunther Emmerlich, Bernita Bush, Pamella Landrum, Mama Bay, Alex Exson through to the "Blue Wonder Jazzband", Wouter Kiers, Bernd Kleinow and many more.
In 2024, the ensemble celebrated its 25th anniversary with the release of CDs no. 9 and 10 as a double CD under the name "Walking In Memphis" and "Happy Xmas" as well as several concerts to mark the occasion. The biggest was undoubtedly in their hometown of Dresden in the Kreuzkirche on the Altmarkt, which was attended by 2,700 people!
The choir sings in five voices, which is rather exceptional, so all the songs were specially arranged for the crew. The repertoire includes spirituals, i.e. classics with mass appeal such as "Oh When The Saints" or "Down By The Riverside", as well as gospel songs written by well-known artists, such as "Jesus Is Everywhere" or "Lean On Me". Original compositions found their place in the concert program ("That's My Solution" or "Miracle") as well as world hits such as "Every Breath You'll Take" and "I Can See Clearly Now".
