Event in the program of the 54th International Dixieland Festival Dresden
All good things come in threes - on Ascension Day 2026, the Grosssedlitz Baroque Garden will once again be the venue for the Dresden International Dixieland Festival. This time, the Lower Orangery Parterre will provide the perfect backdrop for the Cottas Club Jazz Band from Portugal.
The Cotton Club in New York's Harlem district in the 1920s is legendary - but the word "Cottas" is also Portuguese slang for "old style".
Both fit perfectly with the Cottas Club Jazz Band, whose style and line-up are reminiscent of the jazz zeitgeist of around 100 years ago. The seven musicians are stylistically based on the Louis Armstrong All Stars of the 1950s, and they also emphasize that they are amateurs. This is probably why they have been making music together with so much passion and joy since 2003. Their performances captivate with wit, originality and a good dose of humor. Let yourself be carried away by the "Cottas" - true to the band's motto:"When you're smiling the whole world smiles with you!"
