Since 2005, the International Day of Rivers has been held annually on the fourth Sunday in September. The aim is to remind people worldwide of the value of rivers and raise public awareness. Water bodies are habitats for many plants and animals and therefore contribute to the preservation of biodiversity. We must therefore harmonize the protection and use of water bodies as far as possible.
