The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden presents Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony and the world premiere of Fleischmann's "Rothschild's Violin".
The performance matinee of the International Shostakovich Days Gohrisch 2025 combines two important works: Dmitri Shostakovich's Chamber Symphony in C minor op. 110a, an arrangement of his 8th String Quartet, and the world premiere of Benjamin Fleischmann's opera "Rothschild's Violin", which was completed and orchestrated by Shostakovich.
The Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden under the direction of Dmitri Jurowski will perform both works. The soloists are Marek Kalbus (bass), Thorsten Büttner (tenor), Jürgen Müller (tenor) and Irina Papenbrock (mezzo-soprano).
The Gohrisch International Shostakovich Prize will be awarded during the event.
