The Richard Wagner Sites Graupa invite you to an unforgettable and entertaining family tour!

During the museum tour, children and adults learn what the music of the famous composer Richard Wagner sounded like and how today's film music, for example from "Lord of the Rings" or "Harry Potter", was inspired by Wagner's operas. In his operas, for example, Wagner used memory motifs for the singers and actions to create a special atmosphere and drama, as is common for films today. Wagner not only composed the music for his 13 operas, he also wrote the texts and designed precise stage sets.

A lot can be tried out by young and old in the interactive permanent exhibition at the Jagschloss Graupa: Conducting yourself - it's possible in the virtual orchestra pit. Interactive screens illustrate which instrument produces which sound and how this is reflected in the score. In this way, children can experience how a conductor leads an orchestra. The fairytale-like prelude to the Swan Knight Lohengrin, which Richard Wagner sketched during a summer vacation in Graupa in 1846, is played. In addition to various listening stations, visitors can experience the ghostly pirate ship from the opera "The Flying Dutchman" at the holographic theater and listen to Wagner's music at listening stations.

During the museum tour, Wagner's life and operas are explained in a child-friendly way with the help of many questions. How many siblings did Richard Wagner have? What was his favorite animal? Which school subjects interested him? Where did he conduct as court conductor in Dresden? What is an opera anyway and how was a sheet of music created in the 19th century?

The tour ends in the museum-like Wagner residence, the "Lohengrinhaus", where young and old can gain an insight into the way of life of people from almost 180 years ago.
