Hurry out the door and have fun

Active tourists with disabilities find a whole range of options in Saxon Switzerland: wheelchair hikes, hand cycle tours, climbing, horse riding, boat tours.

Thanks to the well maintained pathway network in Saxon Switzerland National Park region, travelers with mobility or sensory impairments as well as persons with learning or mental disabilities have countless options for relaxed walks or lengthy challenging hikes.

Though not all touristic destinations are suitable for people with impairments, they can explore – alone or accompanied - many of the most beautiful places in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Also in Bohemian Switzerland there are plenty of worthwhile accessible destinations to be discovered.

Here is a small selection of the most beautiful wheelchair and hand bike tours through Saxon Switzerland. They vary in terms of difficulty for wheelchair users depending on their distance, road conditions and route profile.

A ranking of difficulty degrees helps to find a suitable tour. It is however always recommendable to be accompanied by a person without disabilities on these tours as now and then there are sections where support by an accompanying person is necessary or at least helpful.

The hand cycle tours were tested with a touring bicycle. Please note that they might turn out to be more difficult with a hand cycle conversion for wheelchairs, also called “adaptive bike”, as they have a different centre of gravity.

There are some other interesting active options awaiting people with disabilities in the National Park region. Anders Hof Horse Farm for instance provides therapeutic horse riding and archery for the blind.
