Struppen: Circular route from Thürmsdorf via the panorama trail

Your hike begins at Thürmsdorf Castle. From there, follow the red dot markings in the direction of Naundorf. The castle's rhododendron park is highly recommended right at the start. The trail then leads past a small pond and a small council square and ends at Bärensteiner Straße. Cross this road and continue walking below the Kleiner Bärenstein to Naundorf (marked with a red dot). At the entrance to the village, you meet the Malerweg, which you follow through the village.

From here, the route takes you past charming half-timbered houses and traditional farms that are home to a variety of domestic animals. You will come across donkeys, horses, chickens and turkeys, among others. After this idyllic section, you enter the forest.

About one kilometer after you reach the forest, an unsignposted viewpoint awaits you, offering you an excellent view over the Elbe and the former sandstone quarries on the right bank of the Elbe, which can only be guessed at. This point is located just before a private path. Be careful, as this section can be a little muddy due to springs above the path.

Further along the Malerweg, you will come across a lovingly created fountain in a pond. You then walk straight ahead to the view at the Königsnase. Here you can enjoy a wonderful view over the Elbe as far as Pirna, especially in the months without leaves.

At the rest area (in poor condition) at the Königsnase, you have the opportunity to take a well-earned break before continuing your tour on the panoramic trail towards Struppen, marked by the green dot. You walk along the edge of the field and after about 15 minutes you reach another viewing point, which offers you a wonderful view towards Struppen and the Struppen Castle manor.

The trail continues along the edge of the field, where in good weather you can enjoy magnificent panoramic views of Pirna-Sonnenstein, Dresden and as far as Radebeul to the Spitzhaus. A cultural and historical highlight is the preserved mill wheel on the Panorama Trail, just before you reach the Kirchberg.

You follow the Panoramaweg Struppen, which turns into an agricultural road and offers spectacular views of Königstein Fortress and the Lilienstein.

For the way back to Naundorf, take the Lottersteig trail, also an agricultural road, which offers a charming view of the Kleiner Bärenstein, among other things. Finally, you return to the starting point of your hike via a short section of the Malerweg trail and the red dot markings.
