Your hike begins at Thürmsdorf Castle. There you follow the red dot marking towards Naundorf. Highly recommended right at the start is the rhododendron park of the castle. The path then leads past a small pond as well as a small council square and ends at Bärensteiner Straße. You cross this and continue hiking below the Kleiner Bärenstein to Naundorf (red dot marking). At the entrance to the village, you meet the Malerweg, which you now follow through the village.
The route initially takes you past charming half-timbered houses and traditional farms that host a variety of domestic animals. You will encounter, among others, donkeys, horses, chickens, and turkeys. After this idyllic section, you enter the forest.
About one kilometer after entering the forest, you will find an unmarked viewpoint that offers an excellent view over the Elbe and the former, now only faintly visible sandstone quarries on the right side of the Elbe. This point is located shortly before a private path. Be careful, as this section can be a bit muddy due to springs above the path.
Continuing on the Malerweg, you come across a lovingly designed fountain in a pond. Then you walk straight ahead to the viewpoint at the Königsnase. Here, especially in the leafless months, enjoy a wonderful view over the Elbe all the way to Pirna.
At the rest area (in poor structural condition) at the Königsnase, there is an opportunity for a well-deserved break before you continue your route on the Panoramaweg towards Struppen, marked with a green dot. You walk along the edge of the field and after about 15 minutes reach another viewpoint that offers you a beautiful view towards Struppen and to the manor Schloss Struppen.
The path continues along the edge of the field, where in good weather you can enjoy great panoramic views of Pirna-Sonnenstein, Dresden, and as far as Radebeul to the Spitzhaus. A cultural-historical highlight is the preserved mill wheel on the Panoramaweg shortly before you reach Kirchberg.
You follow the Panoramaweg Struppen, which becomes a farm road and offers spectacular views of Königstein Fortress and the Lilienstein.
For the return journey to Naundorf, choose the Lottersteig, also a farm road, where you will have a charming view of the Kleiner Bärenstein. Finally, you return via a short section of the Malerweg and the red dot marking on the same path back to the starting point of your hike.
