Schrammsteinbaude, Ostrau
Ostrauer Mühle (campsite), Kirnitzschtal
The Schrammsteinbaude in Zahnsgrund is the starting point of the hike. About 200m below the guesthouse, our path branches off. We follow the Lattengrund steeply upwards (blue stripe marking). It is a narrow little valley, bordered by rock walls and lush greenery. At the top, at a fork, we keep left and go to the large national park information board. From here we follow the marking to the Great Schrammtor, which we pass through on a sandy path (additional marking M(alerweg)).
The Great Schrammtor is one of the mighty cuts into the Schrammsteine. The hiking trail leads narrowly between eroded rock walls.
Then we take the next left turn, the Wildschützensteig. The Wildschützensteig is a staircase secured with metal stairs, ladders, wooden beams and railings through a damp and cool gorge, which leads us almost to the top at the Schrammstein viewpoint. After the ascent we keep left and hike towards the Schrammstein viewpoint. The ridge path leads directly to the well-known Schrammstein viewpoint, which is exposed on the heavily rugged Schrammsteine and offers a magnificent panoramic view of the rocky world.
Back from the viewpoint we stay on the ridge path and hike to the next left-turning path (Mittelwinkel, green dot). We descend here. Down at the next large intersection we keep straight ahead (direction Wildwiese) and then take the next wide path to the left. From here we follow the green stripe marking towards Ostrauer Mühle. The tour ends in the Kirnitzschtal at Ostrauer Mühle.
Sure-footedness and a head for heights are required!
The route is suitable for children, but not for dogs.
