Take your time when the sun casts shadows. Combine your walk through the village with fun and the joy of discovery. Unlock the unique and mysterious aura of a sundial. Its variety of types and shapes simultaneously reminds you of the historical predecessors of modern timekeepers. The incorporation of local objects, materials, motifs, personalities, and events as design elements of the clocks characterizes the special and unmistakable nature of the Krippen Sundial Route. Each clock is individually described at its location. The leisurely passage of time begins and ends at the Krippen “Marketplace.” The logo shows you the way from clock to clock.
The starting point of the small circular route is the Krippen Marketplace. From here follow the small path under the railway underpass to the Elbe Cycle Path. Turn right and follow the cycle path past more sundials to the inn “Ziegelscheune.” This is the 1st turning point on the circular route. Along the Elbe River, the route now continues downstream toward Mittelhangweg. Ascend this path until it crosses Berghangweg. After the fantastic view over Krippen and the Elbe Valley, leave Berghangweg toward Bächelweg. Most sundials are located on this path, which runs parallel to the main street. The 2nd turning point marks sundial 11a. From here, follow the main street up to Krippen Church. On Bächelweg, return toward the Elbe. At the inn “Zur Eiche,” cross the small brook and then follow the main street about 50 meters until a small hill on the left leads to the last stations of the circular route. To return to the starting point of the route, follow the path downhill again toward the inn “Zur Eiche” and then turn left here toward the marketplace.
