A short excursion to one of the most famous viewpoints of the Saxon Switzerland combined with a forest walk to the guesthouse Steinerner Tisch. Hikers can expect a cozy stop with a great view of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. The combination of nature experience and culinary refreshment makes this hike a real highlight.

We start at the Bastei bus stop. Facing towards the Bastei, there is a small path on the left which we follow and reach a wide hiking trail. We follow this to the left for about 250m until we come across a signpost. We continue hiking towards the Schwedenlöcher. After another approximately 300m, we reach the next signpost, which already points to the viewpoint.
You can now take the direct path on the right or choose a small detour. Following the left path, you first reach a small rest area with some seating options, the so-called Gänsehütte. Then you reach the Pavilion viewpoint.
On the Gansweg, we now walk back to the Basteistraße, the paved road. We follow this to the right for about 700m to a bus stop, where a wide forest path branches off to the left towards the Steinerner Tisch. We follow this path to the crossroads at the guesthouse.
Now take a left on a wide hiking trail towards the Bastei. At a kiosk, we reach the street again. It now goes directly right to the Bastei hotel.
We pass a first viewpoint, the Wehlstein viewpoint.
After passing the mountain hotel, you reach the new Bastei viewpoint on the right. Following the steps down leads you directly to the Bastei bridge.
The same route must be taken back. Following the Basteistraße, you reach the bus stop after about 250m.
Please note: In the Saxon Switzerland National Park, only marked paths may be used in the core zone!
Sturdy footwear is recommended.
For another spectacular view, a detour to the Ferdinandaussicht is worth it.
Highway A17, exit Pirna, continue to Lohmen
Numerous paid parking spaces are available directly near Bastei.
