The route starts in Hinterhermsdorf at the Hoffnung stop and leads about 70 meters further along Schandauer Straße towards the town center. Then it goes right along a small side street to Buchenstraße, from which you follow the green stripe towards Hinterdaupitz (Zadni Doubice) or bike route 3032 to the "border crossing for tourists" into the Khaa Valley (Kyjovské údolí).
After about 2.5 kilometers, you leave the yellow stripe and continue at the large fork in the path to the left following the yellow stripe towards "Weißbachtal-Schäferräumicht." Right after the sharp left curve behind the imposing rock overhang, you go right onto a small path over the stream and then a small trail up the slope into the forest. Then you pass some cottages (houses) and continue through the valley towards "Kyjov" (Khaa). Here you keep right and cross the Kirnitzsch river over a large wide bridge, having already crossed the border to the Czech Republic on a small wooden bridge over the Weißbach stream, thus entering Bohemian Switzerland.
You can easily recognize this because the signposts in Bohemian Switzerland look different and are labeled in the Czech language.
Then you continue left along the Khaa Valley towards "Kyjov" (Khaa), where you can discover quite a lot besides beautiful nature. First, you pass the "Johann Hille memorial plaque" mounted high on a rock, and after about 2 kilometers, you reach the so-called "Tourist Bridge" (Touristický Most), which also has a large shelter with extensive information about the area.
If you then follow the Khaa Valley and the red stripe towards "Kyjov" (Khaa), you come to a left turn down into a valley via a mountain path (green arrow) to the so-called "Fairy Cave" (Jeskyně víl). This is located in a dead-end path climbing the slope and is named so because in winter many small ice stalagmites form inside, which look like little fairies. For this reason, the path to the cave is also secured with a chain to hold onto in winter when it is slippery, ensuring safety.
But it is also worth visiting this fissure cave in spring, summer, and autumn before continuing along the red stripe to the rock path of Khaa.
Upon arriving at the rock path of Khaa, you should not miss two short detours before continuing along the yellow stripe. One leads a short distance further along the Khaa Valley to the so-called wine cellar, a small rubble cave (block rubble cave) on the bank of the Kirnitzsch, where you can also admire ice stalagmites resembling wine bottles in winter. The rest of the year, the nature in the creek bed fascinates and makes the small descent worthwhile.
After the wine cellar, you go back a short distance and then follow the sign to the left towards "Klenotnice" – the treasure chamber.
The treasure chamber is an interesting and also impressive rock grotto to discover and explore before returning a short way back to the rock path of Khaa – a tourist path. The rock path is continuously marked with a yellow stripe and leads over some interesting stairs and paths between and over rocks above the Khaa Valley towards Khaa. Here and there, you also find a small wild viewpoint and many places that invite you to rest.
WARNING: the pictures of this area are taken from the opposite direction – thus only partially suitable for orientation. But the marking of this adventurous path is good.
On the rock path, you also pass the Brüdersteine and briefly a small section before climbing up again to the second part and a last wild viewpoint. At this viewpoint, you descend left back into the Khaa Valley and then continue to the right towards Kyjov (Khaa).
Upon arriving in Kyjov, you continue along the street to an inn – a large casually styled tavern. However, the opening hours of this place are currently unknown – more on this in the relevant section of the route description.
After the inn, follow the main street to the right along the yellow and green stripes until you reach an old school on the hill. From there, continue along the street past a small chapel and a small reservoir until you leave the village and enter the forest. In the forest, keep right – leave the street and follow bike route 3031 until you return to the green marking. Then continue following the green marking up the mountain "Hřebec," from where the green stripe leads a bit further towards "Brtníky."
At a fork in the path, you leave the green stripe and continue following bike route 3031 to a large shelter where a sign with a blue stripe points the way to the right towards "Brtníky." Follow the blue stripe, then at a turn go left past the "Niedermühle" (green arrow – where you could shorten the route) to a junction where turning left takes you back over the Kirnitzsch to Germany, and turning right leads you to an impressive fissure cave. At this fissure cave is a memorial stone made of black marble, which in the middle of the forest commemorates Jewish victims of the Second World War.
After you have taken a closer look at this memorial stone and the fissure cave, return to Germany over the Kirnitzsch following the yellow stripe towards "Taubenstein." Along the way, you pass the Niedermühle, where you keep right and have to hike up the slope behind the second building.
Then continue following the yellow stripe towards "Hinterhermsdorf" and try not to miss the Reißershöhle – a large fissure cave – in the lower part of the Reißergrund (after a short climb, descend left down the path) before you reach the top of the mountain and the Taubenstein viewpoint.
Finally, on the way back shortly before Hinterhermsdorf, take another look back from the so-called "Lehmhübel," where the "Fairy Tale Bench" invites you to briefly pause and let your gaze wander into the distance. Then you continue the already known path through Hinterhermsdorf back to the starting point – the Hoffnung stop – where you can end the day in the guesthouse of the same name and recover from the route.
