Directions

Cunnersdorf, a district of the spa town of Gohrisch, is the starting point of this hike. It begins at the “Deutsches Haus” bus stop or at the parking lot in Cunnersdorf and immediately turns right toward Cunnersdorfer Bad along the nature trail. After passing the forest swimming area, we turn right off the road and continue to follow the diagonal green line markings. After about 300 meters, you’ll reach a clearing that slopes upward to the left; at the end of this clearing, the trail climbs steeply to the left toward the Katzstein. After a few meters and an iron ladder, you’ll reach the long, narrow ridge. The Signal—a rocky outcrop with a magnificent view—is the first highlight on your right. Continuing southward along the ridge, you’ll pass the Katzfels, which features a steep ladder and a weather vane. The platform at the top is quite narrow and may require a few minutes’ wait if other hikers are already there. Halfway up the ladder, you can spot the cat carved into the rock. The trail continues on to the Schneebergblick, another lookout point. Here, the trail winds between towering rocks along the mountainside and descends gently onto a wide forest trail. A little further on, the ascent to the Rotstein begins. Once you reach the Rotstein, it’s a great spot for a picnic, since you’ve already covered nearly half the route. Afterward,

the

trail descends again along a forest road.

After a sharp right-hand turn at an intersection, the trail runs mostly flat. Follow the root-covered path for about 4 kilometers until it turns into a narrower, unpaved trail and passes a shelter with a resting area. Here, head up slightly to the right and follow a path to a signpost marking the “Spitzer Stein.” To reach this lookout point, you’ll need to climb iron ladders again. Back on the hiking trail, continue toward Cunnersdorf. Soon you’ll reach the nature trail again; keep to the left and follow the yellow line markings, and later the red line markings (Winterleitenstraße), all the way to the village.
