Centuries ago, lynxes were part of the normal game population in the area of Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland. Today, the shy predatory cats have become extremely rare and are strictly protected. To provide information about the lynx, its special features and its habitat, a special "Lynx Trail" has been created in Bad Schandau, leading from the National Park Centre to the former lynx enclosure in the immediate vicinity of the upper station of the historic passenger lift.
