The other kind of active holiday

The cultural richness of the national park region can be experienced just as well by people with disabilities as the diverse leisure facilities in Saxon Switzerland.
From Medieval fortresses to watch towers to exhibitions, open-air stages and visitor's centres showing manufacturing processes – all of these activities are suitable for holidaymakers with limited mobility or mental disabilities.
Königstein Fortress

The imposing fortress complex can be easily reached using a barrier-free lift. Wheelchair maps and audio guides are provided.
The majority of the exhibits can be accessed without stairs and there is mostly sufficient space to move about freely on the fortress complex.
Rathmannsdorf watch tower

The completely barrier-free Rathmannsdorf watch tower gives visitors a unique panoramic view of the rocky world of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
The tower is accessible to wheelchair users with a EURO key via an additional entrance.
Saxon Switzerland National Park Centre

Visitors can enjoy an interactive exhibition about the national park at the Saxon Switzerland National Park Centre.
Tours for the visually or hearing-impaired and for those with learning difficulties and sign language interpreters can be provided on request. Induction loops are available.
Rathen Open-Air Stage

Europe's most beautiful natural theatre, Rathen Open-Air Stage, is situated in the heart of Saxon Switzerland National Park.
A transport service departing from the box office provides access to visitors with limited mobility.
Advanced booking required: 035024 7770.
Deutsche Kunstblume Sebnitz

Silk flowers have been produced in Sebnitz since 1834. The barrier-free exhibition workshop gives visitors a fascinating insight into the art of dying, pressing, stamping and flower-making. Tours are provided for people with learning difficulties and blind visitors can also handle the exhibits.
