The public transport network in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains allows wheelchair users and people with limited mobility to get around.
Holidaymakers with disabilities can find barrier-free train stations, wheelchair-friendly buses and ferry landing stages in order to discover the region. The local transport is, however, not completely barrier-free; in other words, there remain services not suitable for people with limited mobility or wheelchairs. As such, the best way to ensure a relaxing holiday is to plan ahead.
The S-Bahn train network between Dresden-Mitte and Pirna can be used without restrictions. Lifts provide access to the platforms, the carriages are level with the platforms and disabled toilets are provided.
The other stations on the S-Bahn train network in Saxon Switzerland between Pirna and Schöna vary in terms of their accessibility and are listed in detail below.

The Elbe River flows right through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. Ferries connect the towns on both sides of the river in certain places. Accessibility varies here. The ferry connections are all suitable for wheelchair users, except the Schöna-Hrensko stopping point. The list below provides an overview of the ferries.
A special taxi service in Pirna has adapted its service to accommodate passengers with limited mobility and provides minibuses with ramps and wheelchair systems. Up to six wheelchair users can be transported at once in the vehicles provided by the Funktaxi- & Mietwagen-Vermittlungs-GmbH.
