The Rear Saxon Switzerland invites visitors through its unique location and the variety of its offerings not only to excursions, hikes, and nature experiences, but also to discover crafts, tradition, history, and culture.

Hinterhermsdorf is a district of and the first national park municipality of Saxon Switzerland certified as a "family-friendly holiday destination". It offers families excellent conditions for a relaxing, active, and nature-oriented stay. The range extends from the magnificent panoramic view from the Weifberg tower to a leisure facility with a spacious sunbathing lawn and water playground, to guided discovery and puzzle tours. Young and old can experience an exciting and educational nature adventure in the "Waldhusche" leisure area. One of the region's most popular destinations is the boat ride on the Upper Lock (Obere Schleuse). By boat, visitors glide almost silently on the Kirnitzsch through the practically untouched, bizarre rock landscape in the core zone of the national park. A well-developed network of cycling and hiking trails invites tours through Saxon and Bohemian Switzerland. Well-groomed cross-country ski trails in a quiet environment make Hinterhermsdorf a worthwhile holiday destination in winter as well.
