Lutheran Town Church Hohnstein

Short facts

Town church designed by George Bähr

The church was first mentioned in 1381, but fell victim to the great city fire of 1724. From 1724 to 1728, it was rebuilt by George Bähr, who also designed the Frauenkirche in Dresden, which was built from 1726 to 1743. Many elements are also recognisable in the Frauenkirche.
Because the tower was built above the choir in the east, it is called a "choir tower church".
